I wandered around the kitchen taking pictures of everything that seemed remotely asparagus green; this caterpillar tile fit the bill for sure. –Pookie

This was our favorite sign on the drive to Columbus. There were actually quite a few barns painted with the “Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco” signs.

We drove home from Columbus today, with the fear of god instilled in us by the person at Pistacia Vera who packed up the gift basket we were bringing back for Boomer. She had warned us that the macarons needed to be refrigerated, so we were terrified the 8-hour (or 8 1/2-hour, if you factor in the whole “taking the scenic route through Philly” bit we did) would ruin them. Oh, and the two growlers of beer we brought back from Barley’s. So we kept the car uncomfortably cold, and all our foodstuffs made it home safely. But we made it home freezing and exhausted from stressing out about it. Heh.

Today we took the chicken wire and straw off the garlic. It’s so green and tall! Last year when we did this, the garlic was, like, still translucent and all shriveled and pathetic. Here’s hoping it’ll be a bumper crop!

Ooh, that looks like a pretty cribbage board. Or a deceptive picture that makes a normal cribbage board seem pretty.

  2. It’s a pretty swanky cribbage board. Boomer and Schnookie gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago. It has hidden compartments for the pegs and cards and everything!
